Spring, Fall, Summer, Winter. A natural and continuous cycle that, in its regularity, modifies the rhythms and times of body and mind. The Change of season it becomes a tiring moment, sometimes causing tiredness, anxiety and stress.

We feel exhausted, exhausted, lacking energy. How can we overcome it? With a holistic approach aimed at well-being. In the article you will find suggestions from our naturopaths.

The guests of Palazzo BelVedere they experience the change of season with a different spirit. An event that for many people is synonymous with discomfort becomes within the walls of the hotel an opportunity to welcome the new rhythms of nature with a positive outlook and transform the transition from one season to another into a path of external and inner well-being.

What happens to the body during the change of season?

The Season changes - in particular the arrival of Spring and Autumn - affect the body and cause undesirable effects. Let's have a feeling of general malaise which results in annoying disorders perceived subjectively by people.

There are those who experience mental tiredness and physical weakness, general exhaustion and lack of energy. On the other hand, those who struggle to concentrate on work or study activities.

Some people suffer from disorders such as nighttime insomnia or afternoon sleepiness, irritability, and sudden mood changes.

The change of season can even affect appetite and cause mild gastric or digestive disorders.

Of course, it doesn't happen to everyone, but most of us still feel a slight malaise, an inner contradiction and a lack of balance.

Do you know when we say”I can feel the change of season”? Here, we have the feeling that something is out of place.

Why do we feel powerless during the change of season?

External factors play an important role: when the transition from one season to the next occurs suddenly, our body struggles more to get used to the new circadian rhythms.

If the change, on the other hand, is gradual, the perceptions are milder.

Changes in temperature, weather that is too hot or too cold, constant rains, days that get longer or shorter are elements to consider as disturbing.

External stresses are perceived differently by each of us and based on Sensoriality we experience more or less tiredness, irritability, appetite.

The lifestyle, the type of diet, good habits, the quality of the time we live influence the perception we have with respect to the change of season: if properly cared for they become an opportunity for well-being.

How does our body behave during the change of season?

We have incredible potential. Our body tends to adapt to changes of season and independently seeks a new balance to adapt to changes in climate and nature.

For about a week, ten days, the body works at a faster pace because it tries to compensate for deficiencies, balance the weights, give uniformity to the rhythms. And it cries out for energy, loudly.

In practice, with a more or less conscious approach, we are looking for Right size.

During the change of season we have two opportunities:

  • continue to go through the days with difficulty without doing anything to ease the situation, and waiting for the seasons to run their course,
  • Embrace the change with simple activities and small gestures to be inserted as good habits in the daily routine.

At Palazzo BelVedere, we opted for the second solution: in collaboration with the Lumen Naturopathy School we create paths aimed at restoring balance and achieving well-being.

They are called Vitaliter and we propose them during the changes of season to support guests to overcome these moments with vitality.

How to react to the change of season: advice from naturopathy

What can we do in practice to transform the Seasonal malaise into Seasonal well-being?

Let us rely on nature and remedies based on the four elements of naturopathy: Water, Air, Earth and Fire.

During the transitions from one season to another, we experience a condition of resistance and loss because we are no longer used to change: we eat the same food all year round regardless of seasonality, we do not correct our rhythms with the arrival of a new season and we do not modify the activities we practice.

But the change of season is a Moment of energy transformation and in this process we have the task of supporting the body to make a specific change. Here's what we can do.

Four suggestions valid for all season changes

  1. Let's pay attention to purification: it is important to choose fruits, vegetables and cereals linked to seasonality that favor the purifying condition naturally.
BV naturopaths recommend reducing the amount of animal protein - with the exception of eggs and fish -, eliminating refined sugars and preferring whole foods.
  2. Practicing physical activity at least three times a week for an hour: we give vitality to the body.
  3. Align physical activity with the season: during Autumn and Winter we can practice yogic activities; in Spring and Summer we go out into the open air and prefer a more intense movement.
  4. Dedicate time to breathing practices diaphragmatic to promote concentration and oxygenation.

The Porticato Bianco is the place of meditation, nourishment and breathing: it has underfloor heating to make the practice of Yoga and Pilates comfortable and is flooded with light. Here you can spend quality time during the cold seasons.

When the weather is mild you can spend your days outdoors: the Circular Garden It is a space with a small athletic track that encourages movement. The Thermal Pine Forest, just a few minutes from the hotel, is perfect for running in nature.

What happens at Palazzo BelVedere during the change of season

In line with the rhythms of nature, Palazzo BelVedere wears a different outfit at every change of season: the hotel experiences a 'seasonal behavior' aimed at welcoming the guest with balance and making people feel in line with the passage of time.

So we change the restaurant menu and the dishes we offer for breakfast, lunch and dinner; we send a dedicated newsletter with an inspiration, a suggestion, a starting point for the new season; we align the palette of colors used in communication; we organize moments, situations, events to celebrate the arrival of the new season.

The most important change takes place in the silence of Home SPA©, where naturopaths offer elemental treatments built on the needs of the person.

Depending on the season, we suggest a specific treatment.

  • Spring, Room of the Air Element: a moment of lightness with suspended movements above the hammocks.
  • Summer, Fire element room: immersion of the whole body in the salt tank.
  • Autumn, room of the Earth element: immersion in the earth's tank to make contact with the specific elements of this substance with a strong transformative capacity.
  • Winter, room of the Water element: treatment on a water-heated bed, with the use of Tibetan bells to perceive the deepest vibrations.

Some tips for spring

At Palazzo BelVedere we celebrate the arrival of every Spring with enthusiasm.

At this time of year, people feel the need to wake up from the heaviness of winter and to let their energy flourish again.

During the change of season, we come out of the den, from the heat, from the torpor: we strongly feel the need to regain contact with nature and humanity.

Our naturopaths recommend four practical remedies to overcome the discomfort of this period.

  • Prefer a detox diet with spring vegetables and fruits: we can start the day with a cream of rice to eat for breakfast, to which we can add oil seeds and sprouts.
  • Spending time outdoors and in the sun to produce vitamin D and help cells resonate with the new season; the sun has healing effects and helps eliminate depression. Let's go out to find a moment of joy and color.
  • Make some warm compresses with coarse-grained salt to reduce pain caused by cold snaps: we can place a compress on the cervical area and one on the back at the height of the iliac crests (lumbar belt) to increase our energy.
  • Make some warm compresses on the liver to activate the purifying functions.

People also change from a physical point of view: they dress, pose, speak with an intentional, meditated, conscious posture.

AND Do they accept this change, they become aware of it through the continuous passage of practices and activities: immersing themselves in water, walking, meditating, savoring, resting.

As is the case in Natura, even here at BV everything is a thing to do. But lightly.
